Project Japan CEO

Rebalance Kyoto Representative Director

After receiving university diploma in classical music in Kyoto, a World-Heritage old cultural city of Japan, Yuko OGINO started her career in a professional folk-music band as a keyboard player and composer/arranger. She also developed her original music therapy method, practiced it as a scholar, and finally visited Holland to make original musical instruments for the method, where she met Rob. Rob and Yuko are good friends since, and understand artistic spirits of each other.

Arts in social, or more importantly daily-life, context has been her focus all the way. She designs Japanese traditional sweets (a prize at a exhibition by court confectioner's, ) makes recipes for tradition-based Japanese home cooking (especially prize-winning pickles etc.), and guides people to wear Kimonos most naturally (with diplomas from Kyoto's representative Kimono school.) She is running a NPO in Kyoto that promotes re-balancing daily life through traditional artistic sense.

In 2014 Yuko re-started to live in Holland with her families, and established a VOF "Project Japan" to promote the similar concept of arts-in-life re-balancing through cultural exchange. The tea ceremony today with Houji-cha, or roasted tea, aims at enjoying the soothing scent of Japan's ordinary tea, just like at home, rather than in an authentically ceremonious setting.
